The Spirit Train,[1] also known as the Spirits' Train,[2] is the name of the Train used by Link and Princess Zelda during their adventures in New Hyrule in Spirit Tracks. Since the Spirit Train is considered to be a symbol of the Spirits of Good, it bears the Spirits' emblem, a Force Gem on top of a pedestal, at the front of the Train. The ancient locomotive is esteemed and known for having a 'long history of keeping evil at bay.'[3][4]

Spirit Tracks Walkthrough – The Dark Realm 12.1 The Dark Realm. Leave the Tower of Spirits towards the Forest Realm. Trace a path all the way in the direction of. 12.2 The Demon Train. Afterwards, you’ll be riding around and four tracks will appear next to one another. Your first train, the Spirit Train, has a vitality of 4 hearts. When you use at least two train cars from a set other than the Spirit set, your vitality will increase to 5 hearts. In Spirit Tracks, the player explores the overworld by the use of Link's Spirit Train. Because the train is held to rails and can't divert from them, the player has to switch track in order to change their direction. Spirit Tracks continued a mechanic from Phantom Hourglass allowing the player to draw the route they wish to take. Like the other games in the Adult Timeline, the player encounters many enemies while traveling through the overworld. Dec 07, 2009 The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks is an action/adventure game for the Nintendo DS and DSi that sets Link, the iconic hero of the Legend of Zelda series, on a daring new adventure. The game provides players with a new story, more puzzles, a new mode of transportation-by train-and a new companion in combat, the Phantom.

The Demon Train is a boss from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. It is a massive, semi-sentient locomotive fought in the Dark Realm, directly before the final fights with Chancellor Cole and Malladus.

History

Prior to the events of Spirit Tracks, the Spirits of Good entrusted the Spirit Train to the Lokomos with its keeping, where it was turned to stone and placed in the center of the Tower of Spirits.[5] After Link and Princess Zelda retrieve the Forest Rail Map from atop the tower, Anjean, one of the Lokomos, charges the young duo with the task of restoring all of the Spirit Tracks that have begun to disappear throughout the four Realms.[6] To do so, however, she lends the Spirit Train to Link and Zelda so that they may easily travel between the realms. Anjean explains that the Spirit Train is not normally used by people, but under the special circumstances that the kingdom of Hyrule is currently facing, there is no other choice than to let them use it.[4]

Overview

Link driving the Spirit Train as Zelda accompanies him

Like the SS Linebeck from Phantom Hourglass, the Spirit Train is controlled by drawing its path on the bottom screen of the Nintendo DS. Speed is selectable by use of a gear to slow, speed up, and/or change directions. A whistle is employed to clear the tracks of wayward animals, and like Link's other transportation vehicles, the Spirit Train has an on-board Cannon. At first, however, the Spirit Train only comes with the engine and the passenger car. After Link and Zelda retrieve the Snow Rail Map, Bullbos begin to roam the land and, as such, Link's mentor Alfonzo aids them in their quest by adding the cannon to the Spirit Train. Moreover, Kagoron of Goron Village provides the young hero with a Freight Car after he asks that Link bring Mega Ice in order to cool down the lava that has been recently flowing through the village.

While in the overworld, the Spirit Train's endurance meter appears as green Hearts at the top of the screen. Stopping at a Train Station replenishes any Hearts lost during the travel. More Hearts can be obtained for the health meter by choosing the right combination of Train Parts (see below).

As Link is driving the Spirit Train around the overworld, he will have to carefully pick what Spirit Tracks to go on since Dark Trains will also be roaming the tracks. If a Dark Train is approaching Link, the young hero can shoot Bombs at it to slow it down, giving him a chance to escape; however, if he doesn't, the Train will crash into him, resulting in a game over. Eventually, Armored Trains will also start appearing in the overworld, which are faster, smarter versions of the Dark Trains. Link cannot hurt these Trains with the Bombs, and they can also change their course in a matter of seconds if they spot Link's Spirit Train riding on the same area that they are roaming.

Inside the Dark Realm, the Spirit Train becomes an even more vital part to the game since it is the only way to reach the Demon Train. Here, Link must use the various Tears of Light scattered throughout the realm to power up the Train and thus give it invincibility for a while in order to destroy the various Armored Trains that are roaming the tracks.[7] Link can blow the whistle to make the Spirit Train go even faster while it is being powered by the Tears of Light. After all of the Armored Trains are defeated, Link and Zelda will proceed to face off the Demon Train, which is defeated by using the Spirit Train's cannon and Bombs.

During the ending credits, the Spirit Train is seen again in Aboda Village, where Alfonzo is presumably doing some maintenance work to it in Aboda Village. Moreover, if Link chose to be an engineer, Princess Zelda will hear a Train whistle from her office in Hyrule Castle, which can be assumed to come from the Spirit Train itself.

Legend Of Zelda Spirit Tracks Train Theme

The Train is customizable, and the special add-on Train Cars can be found at Linebeck III's Trading Post, located in the Forest Realm. There, Link can trade in the Treasures he has accumulated for Train Cars.[8] Each piece requires specific amounts of various treasures before Linebeck III will turn one over. Once Link has obtained new Train Cars, he can ask Alfonzo in Aboda Village to switch them out as needed. Just like the Ship Parts in Phantom Hourglass, if these parts are added to the Spirit Train, the Train will gain a longer life meter, allowing it to take more hits from the numerous enemies Link will encounter in his travel. Stacking multiple Train Cars from the same series will multiply the amount of health in the Train's health meter. For example, any random combination of parts or the regular set gives the Train a defense of five Hearts. By customizing the Train with a complete set, it will increase the defense of the Train to six Hearts. Equipping it with the full Golden Train set gives it a defense of eight Hearts.

Transporting Passengers

The signs that Link must follow as he is transporting a passenger. From left to right: blow the whistle, slow down, and speed up

During Link's adventure, the Spirit Train becomes his main mean of transportation around the kingdom of Hyrule, and as such, it is the only way to access the various Train Stations as well as Beedle's Air Shop. Being a Royal Engineer, he is sometimes tasked with giving other people rides to Train Stations, which sometimes results in the young hero receiving a Force Gem as a sign of gratitude.[9] As he is riding the Train with a passenger aboard, Link must pay attention to the signs that have been placed all over the Spirit Tracks. These signs demonstrate when Link should slow down or speed up, as well as when he should blow the Train's whistle. Moreover, he must stop exactly at the Train Station that the passenger wishes to go to, so if he the young hero passes the stop sign at the station, this will also displease the passenger. Failing to do what the signs say (or suddenly using the emergency break) will result in the passenger being displeased on how he drives the Spirit Train.[10] If the young hero keeps making mistakes, the passenger will become angered and leave the train, at which point Link can either go back and try again or keep going.[11][12]

Other Appearances

Hyrule Warriors

The Spirit Train appears as part of Toon Link's moveset with the Sand Wand Weapon in Hyrule Warriors. The Spirit Train appears through a yellow Portal as it is summoned, possessing its Cannon but without its Passenger Car. Toon Link conducts the Train using the Sand Wand to ram into hordes of enemies, running them over in a fiery blaze. Toon Link also utilizes the Spirit Train's Cannon to fire Bombs on each side of the Train as it runs over enemies. During Toon Link's Focus Spirit, the Spirit Train also blows its whistle in a burst of fiery energy when the Focus Spirit Gauge is depleted.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS

The Spirit Train stage
See SmashWiki's article on Spirit Train for more information.

The Spirit Train appears as a stage in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. The stage features the Spirit Train moving across New Hyrule. The main platforms are three Train Cars: the Spirit Engine, the Solid Passenger Car (which has open windows and two open walls) and the Trusty Freight Car, which often changes cargo. Dark Trains and Armored Trains occasionally appear on the tracks and may ram into the train, which slows it down and pushes it towards the edge of the screen. The Dark and Armored Trains can also fall on the train and explode, after which only the Spirit Engine is left behind. Platforms carried by birds also appear above the train sometimes. Link in his Engineer's Clothes makes a cameo appearance driving the Train. If Toon Link or Link are chosen as fighters on the stage, Link is replaced by Alfonzo as the train driver.

When Zelda asks you which realm to go to, say to go to the Snow Realmsince she saw that it's connected to the Fire Realm. Use the tracksthat go east to get into the Fire Realm.

Fire Realm

Set your course for the large structure with multiple doors in themiddle of the map. If you try going to the small cave(Targeting Range) instead, you'llbe told that it's closed, so don't bother with it.

As you head into the Fire Realm, the volcano starts erupting. If any rocks fall onto the tracks, break them apart with the cannon.

On your way to the city, you'll go through a tunnel. Be sure to slowdown just as you approach the exit of the tunnel, because the platformis right on the other side.

Goron Village

The path to the village has been blocked because of the volcano's eruptions. A villager near the lava spout says to climb up the mountainto visit Kagoron, who is praying at the altar. Go west and up thestairs to start working your way up.

Climb the Mountain

Walk up the stairs near the postbox and walk past the piles of ironto find a treasure chest that contains a random treasure. Go back down and walk to the left.

Watch the timing of the boulders to see how to get past them withoutgetting hit. You will need to hide out in the bends of the path to keepfrom getting hit. You will also have to avoid the falling rocks of fire. This part is all about timing and about hiding in the bends of thepath. Use the roll attack by tapping twice if you don't seem to be able to go quickly enough.

Eventually you will reach a grassy area with a crystal switch. There are two whip poles to the left, and when you hit the switch, abridge temporarily appears. You will need to whip across and then getacross the bridge before it disappears.

To do this, placea bomb next to the switch, but don't throw the bomb directly at it. Walk toward the whip poles, but don't letthe crystal switch go off screen. You need to wait until the bomb explodes and activates the switch, and then you can whip across and use the roll attack to get across the bridge before it disappears.

Exit north for now. You can use the shortcut down the mountain in a moment. You will meet with Kagoron. He will tell you to go back totown and get your train ready.

Use the south exit, then go to the right to use the shortcut downthe mountain. Whip across, then open the chest here to get a randomtreasure item.

When you go south, there will be several places where you can hop down, but you can get a random treasure item if you hop down onto the ledgein the middle of the map that points downward. Then returnto the Goron Village.

Goron Village

When you walk near the large Goron near the train platform, Kagoronwill show up and get the large Goron to help add a freight car to your train. Kagoron asks you to go get something that is cold enough to get rid of the lava.

Anouki Village

Go west to the Snow Realm and visit the Anouki Village. The guy nearthe entrance will ask you to bring some lumber and a handyman. Ifyou wait a moment, Honcho will come up to you and ask if you needsomething. He'll point out the place on the map where a guy sellsMega Ice. It's on the left side, south of the small pond. The guythere asks you to take him to a clear pool of water. He meansWellspring Station, where Ferrus's house is. Agree to take him.

Before you leave the Anouki Village, use your boomerang to freezethe water with the torch to the left of the waterto get access to the treasure chest in the corner, whichcontains a random treasure, then go get into your trainand ride over to Wellspring Station.

Wellspring Station

Nintendo

The Anouki will walk onto the pier to the left of Ferrus's house. Before talking to him, use your boomerang to freeze the water andget access to the stamp station in the back wall.

Then talk to the Anouki. You'll receive a Force Gem. He'll say to come back later to get the Mega Ice. Just go into Ferrus's houseand back out again, and the Mega Ice will be ready. He'll wantto charge 25 rupees, but you can actually just keep saying it'stoo expensive, and the guy will give it to you for free.

With the Mega Ice in your freight car, go back to the Goron Village. You will have to avoid getting hit by enemies. Also, there is a Dark Train hanging out in front of the TargetingRange, so you have to go the long way around to the village using thewinding north path. Keep an eye on the paths of the Dark Trains andadjust your course to make sure to avoid them.

Goron Village

Once you are back in the Goron Village, run over to the left side whereyou went up the mountain before and you will find Kagoron standing there.Tell him that you have the ice. You need at least ten pieces of ice.

You can go back to the huts in the back of the village now. Don't starve mobile apk. There isa treasure that you can reach if you go up onto the hill behindthe three houses that make a triangle on the map. Walk across thebridge to the left to find the treasure.

You can go in and talk to all of the Gorons if you want. One of theGorons is outside, unable to reach his house because the lava is stillthere. He asks you to bring more ice, which you can do if you want,or just come back later and do it.

Go talk to the Elder in the biggest house up north. He will agree toopen the path to you. Go through the door that he walked away from.

Cave to the Sanctuary

Use your boomerang on the Fire Keese that are in your way, then headto the upper-left part of the cave where there is a whip pole. Whipacross, then step on the switch to extend two permanent bridges.Cross them, then avoid the shaking pots that contain Like-Likes.If one comes out, throw a couple of bombs at it for the most hands-freeway to kill it.

Before going up the stairs to the next floor, walk left from the ledgejust above where you encountered the Like-Likes. There is a treasure chesthere that contains a random treasure item. Go back and go up the stairsto the next floor.

In the outside area, you will have to fight more Fire Keese and avoidmore falling lava rocks. There are also some chomping plants. You cankill those with a bomb flower, or just use the boomerang to cut the stem, then use the sword to kill the head. Be careful, because they spewfireballs at you.

Use your boomerang to light all of the torches to create three bridges. You'll create one bridge after lighting the first set of torches, then you can go down lower and light two torches there to create twomore bridges.

Spirit Legends 1 Walkthrough

Go across the lower-left bridge first to find a treasure in the upperleft corner of the map. Then cross the topmost bridge to find the stamp station.

From the stamp station, you can hop down from the southern edge of theledge to reach the area across the middle bridge. Go right and you willfind a stone head puzzle. The lava rocks will stop falling in this area.

The sign in this area tells a story. This is a hint for figuring outhow to unlock the door. It says that the light of friendship shone betweenthe men, so you have to figure out which two statues represent the twomen and play the Song of Light between them. The popular man is the one that most of the other statues are looking at. That's the one in thecenter. He is looking at the woman he loves, at the top middle. The womanonly has eyes for the other man, who is at the middle right. So standbetween the center statue and the middle right statue and play the Song of Light. The door will unlock, so go through.
